For maiden run of "TM" will cover the basics of "Riding Clyde" as a Clyde myself often normal Cross Country parts are not enough “ClydEssentials” covers the most basic parts that needs special attention.
Whats a Clyde? Short for Clydesdale a type of work horse used for pulling, carrying, duties. If your familiar with Carlsberg beer and its old commercials THAT specific horse pulling huge kegs of beer. So Clydesdale riders are just big? Yes Big and Tall or a combination of both. ClydEssentials

Fork
Airsprung
Some forks have a weight limit but don’t let that bother you. Adjust your fork accordingly to proper SAG almost all forks can take the weight.
Know your fork limits...5 foot drop offs to nothing will most likely eat up the travel resulting in a bad OTB. Being heavier the fork works overtime to properly carry your weight regardless of how much tuning you do going beyond its capability will render it useless.

Brakes
Clydes are heavier so stopping our heft requires special attention. Pads, rotors, heat-up twice as fast so consider the following when upgrading (?) or initial setup.
Minimum 180mm, up-sized option 203mm rotors
Consider Metallic pads

Rims, spoke, hubs
Wider rims preferably from All Mountain discipline
32 spokes minimum
Double to triple butted spokes
Brass nipples
Always check for alignment and tension
Burly sealed bearing hubs
Tires
Thick side-walled tires are our friend the skinnier more speed oriented tires tend to have thinner sidewalls for lower weight. Beware of Snake bites and pinch flats. Adjust pressure accordingly.
Cockpit
4 bolts are better than 2 on stems
2 bolts double clamp on seatpost
And just to be safe stay away from the "Weight weenie" parts bin.
Ride Clydes! Even if we lack the Climbing power we make up for it descending GO!
